Sara M. Kelly has significant experience assisting clients with a broad and diverse range of services in the day-to-day administration of their employee benefit plans.
In communicating with plan sponsors and their benefit departments, Sara routinely addresses administrative matters involving participants’ eligibility for benefits, benefit claims and distributions, COBRA administration, HIPAA compliance, Medicare Part D compliance, claims and appeals issues, and distribution of required annual and periodic notices to participants. She regularly prepares routine letters and communications as well as draft operational documents including trust agreements, plans, summary plan descriptions, service provider agreements and other benefits related documents.
Sara also assists plan sponsors and coordinates with service providers concerning renewal of fiduciary liability insurance and fidelity bond policies, annual audits of financial statements and preparation of governmental filings, reporting and disclosure requirements, Internal Revenue Service and U.S. Department of Labor audits, and pending litigation.
Prior to joining Blitman & King LLP, Sara was a corporate in-house employee benefits analyst for 19 years. Her primary responsibilities included both welfare and defined benefit plan administration, monitoring benefit plan compliance under ERISA and government mandated reporting and disclosure requirements, as well as developing communications to employees regarding various benefit plans.
When not serving the firm’s clients, Sara enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoys reading, cooking and camping.
